Sun shutter, Cameroon, 1964

In an ultimate demonstration of the relevance of his approach to massproduced climate-adaptable architecture, Jean Prouvé’s collaboration with Atelier LWD (Lagneau, Weill, Dimitrijevic, architects) came to fruition in the creation of a lightweight façade component for schools: S-shaped pressed aluminum “waves” whose horizontal perforations let in air and natural light while maintaining privacy and keeping rain out.
