Casino de la Grande Côte, Royan, 1951

The aluminum porthole panel developed in 1949 for the Tropique house prototype at once became a modernist architecture archetype. In the form of facade panels, doors, movable partitions, and a number of variants thereof, it remains symbolic of Jean Prouvé’s technical and aesthetic contribution to “open-ended” mass production.
